Therapists

Our Highly Skilled Massage Therapists have completed the Virginia State requirement of at least 500 hours of Massage Therapy training, certified and approved by the State Council of Higher Education.  They have passed the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork test, giving them the title “Certified Massage Therapists”.  They hold Virginia State Board of Nursing- Massage Therapist Permits; as well as, Fairfax County Massage Therapist Permits.


Jack
Jack prefers to think of himself as a one-on-one therapist, addressing the needs of his clients on a personalized basis as close as possible to what each client requires.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in Manila, Philippines and is a graduate of the National Massage Therapy Institute in Falls Church.  Since relaxation and good well-being is the goal of any massage, Jack helps his clients achieve these through rhythmic breathing and muscle release techniques to achieve improved freedom of movement throughout the whole body.  He employs various techniques such as Deep Tissue, Sports, Cranio-Sacral, Geriatric, Acupressure, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Swedish and Chair massage to help individuals improve their health on a physical, mental and energetic level.  In his spare time, he enjoys long drives to the countryside in or out of state, goes bargain hunting in estate sales, reading and solving crossword puzzles.

Yolanda
A science teacher of 12 years from Bulgaria, Yolanda is a graduate of the National Massage Therapy Institute in Falls Church.  She currently works there part-time as a teacher’s assistant.  She practices various techniques including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release & Trigger Point Therapy.  This encourages relaxation and improvement of the client’s overall health, encompassing the physical, mental and energetic levels.  She is able to customize each session to address the client’s immediate concerns and long-term goals through her continuing professional education.  Yolanda has taken continuing education classes in Myofascial Release and Hot Stone Massage.  Aromatherapy and the alternative uses of essential oils is another subject she is currently exploring.  Yolanda is a firm believer that a massage is a step closer to a stress-free life and everybody should experience it.  She considers each client a gift and an opportunity to learn more about the world and hopes to make it a better place to live in for all of us.

Curtis
Curtis is a graduate of the National Massage Therapy Institute in Falls Church, VA.  Keeping you relaxed and comfortable is always his priority and he strives to do just that during your session.  He incorporates stretching and range of motion techniques to provide a tension relieving and relaxing massage.  He has been in the spa industry since 2007, working in different spas and chiropractor's offices.  Curtis currently performs Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone and Chair Massage as well as Aromatherapy and Reflexology.

Barbara
Barbara has been practicing body and energy work for nearly a decade.  She believes a communicative customer is the most important component of a successful massage session, but can also tailor a massage to fit almost anybody’s needs.  She has a focus on the back/neck, hips and deep insertions of the muscles.  She focuses on deep muscle work, (moving the body’s homogenous connective tissue), to produce results, but also integrates Bowen Therapy, Sports Massage, Deep Tissue, Advanced Reiki, Lymphatic Massage, Polarity, Myopractic, Reflexology, Swedish, Cranial Sacral, and Sound Therapy (Iso Technique).  stretching and hot moisture.  She is certified in Infant Massage and has four children.  She has been a dental hygienist for 29 years, has been active in mitigating Tempomandibular Joint Disease (TMJ) issues for ten years and enjoys serving clients of all ages and physical capabilities.

Alex
Alex is a graduate of the Fingerlakes School of Massage, from all the way up in Ithaca, New York.  He is passionate about yoga, martial arts and the outdoors.  His hands will either drift you off into blissful slumber, or bring pain relief to those sore muscles.  Alex is a firm believer that massage is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.  He currently practices, swedish, deep tissue, energy palpitation, reflexology, and sports Massage.

Irene
Irene holds a B.A. in International Studies from George Mason University.  World traveled and diverse in personal interests, she enjoys snow skiing and scuba diving.  Her humanitarian spirit volunteered alongside Mother Teresa in Calcutta, India 1983.  Her focus of work during study for massage therapy was neuromuscular pain relief from aches, sports massage and clients living with cancer.  Her massage technique is medium to deep pressure enhanced with acupressure/compression.  The treatment session is based on client needs as a primary choice within the scope of Swedish and Deep tissue.

Maggie
A 1997 graduate of the AKS Massage School in Herndon, VA, Maggie specializes in neck, shoulder and lower back pain problems.  Maintaining feedback from her clients, along with her 14 plus years of experience, gives her an intuitive ability to hone in on problem areas.  Primarily a deep tissue therapist, she accommodates her pressure to the comfort level of each client.  As a X-C skier and cyclist, she is keenly aware of working with sport injuries.  Her passion for garden design allows her to express her artistic and creative skills which translate into her massage work as well.

Jessie
Jessie graduated from the Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage.  As a nurturer by nature, she likes to customize each session around the individual needs of her clients, making sure that they leave each session relaxed and refreshed.  Communication between the therapist and client is essential to making sure that you get the right treatment and feedback is always welcome.  She is currently practicing Swedish and Deep Tissue massage.

Tuan
Swedish, deep tissue, reflexology, chair, sports, lomi-lomi, lymphatic drainage, muscle energy technique (MET), myofascial release, and stones (hot or cold).  Certified fitness trainer and Nutritionist since 2009.  Hobbies include weight-lifting, boxing, water skiing, basketball, football, soccer, swimming,biking, woodworking, doing yardwork, and traveling.  I want to share my passion, enthusiasm and education in fitness and therapeutic massage with others to show them how rewarding healing arts can be.

Katrice
Katrice is a graduate of the Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice alongside a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a focus on mental health.  Katrice devotes her life to the care and progression of others, both mentally and physically in conjunction with her work as a massage therapist.  Katrice also practices as a mental health clinician in the state of Virginia.  Katrice prides herself on customizing each session to the specific therapeutic needs of her clients.  She creates an environment that is tranquil thereby allowing her clients a deeper state of relaxation.  Katrice is also certified in prenatal, postpartum, newborn and infant massages.  Katrice’s professional knowledge also encompasses Chinese hand and foot reflexology, Swedish, Sports, Deep Tissue, and Chair Massages.

Lori Lake-Harris
Lori Lake-Harris has been a massage therapist for nearly 20 years, practicing in California, New York and the mid-Atlantic region.  Her focus for the past 10 years has been in clinical massage, assisting patients in the rehabilitation of acute and chronic conditions.  Lori’s approach is a compilation of soft tissue manipulation techniques, assessment and recommendations regarding corrective body mechanics for everyday living.  Over the past 10 years, Lori has been an instructor of massage therapy as well as an adjunct professor at Northern Virginia Community College for massage therapy and medical terminology.  Lori is excited to join the Canary Orchid team and add her experience in the field of clinical massage to an already outstanding group of therapists.
